Cabaret Wilkommen second week progress Today in class we worked on characterisation of the MC and including the cabaret girls, we went through the dance and the vocals throughout to establish character for your own individual interpretation of the MC, I think I have my character down, but what I want to do is be more confident I know all the talking in the middle and the choreography perfectly so all I have to really focus on is my character, I think I have good facial expressions and know what poses and how I would move and stand etc. Something I want to do is run through again with my cabaret girls to make sure they know what they’re doing in the dance sections after they come on and also to finalise my interactions with them, I want to improve my vocals and projection as well as keeping everything else up to scratch.
Cabaret Wilkommen Initially starting this has gone pretty good, I like this style of performance and how you can do a lot with it and make it your own i love over the top characters with a dark side. I think the things that went well were the dancing and the acting, the singing I think has improved after the first lesson obviously after getting more familiar with the song and getting used to speaking in different languages whilst singing the pronunciation is definitely the hardest part of the song at present, I want to improve that as well as projection and making sure the dance looks great and matches the character I’m portraying as my version of the MC, i want my version to be half creepy half alluring and incredibly theatrical and out there, with more rehearsals I think i can achieve this.
Musical theatre~ There is nothing like a dame Performance evaluation I think I did well with the characterisation during the performance I had facial expressions and also body language that matched the character and helped boost the entertainment value of the entire performance, I had fairly good projection but I would have liked to have done it better because of the lower key of the part I sang, voice projection is something I want to work on in the future to improve my singing skills, but specifically in nothing like a dame my acting was my strong point
Nothing like a dame This lesson we rehearsed nothing like a dame after we began with a vocal warm up around the piano The skills I’ve been working on would be voice projection especially in the smaller group sections where there’s only two people singing at one time, also keeping good timing with the dancing and singing at the same time What I need to improve on for a target would be coordination as I definitely need to work on it so I can do the choreography and everything else at the same time and perfect it.
South Pacific ~ nothing like a dame Skills I’ve started to work on would be voice projection, keeping characterization throughout and making it clear and faultless Skills I want to improve would be my vocal ability especially because this particular piece requires me to go very low so I want to maintain the tune and carry the song in that lower range without it being forced because I naturally go higher. Projection still, because I’ve not had a lot of singing experience I probably tend to go quieter so I can control what it sounds like especially with new songs I’ve never tested out etc. i think i can do the accent needed for this piece and because it is a older musical i can work well with the old time sound.
