Monday 4th- Tuesday 5th
Musical theatre Matilda the musical
Mondays lesson we had the piano player in for rehearsals so we went through nothing like a dame twice experimenting with the different keys and we also ran through school song twice for each group and we got the block section clean as possible and then we also did seasons of love a few times through polishing the vocals off, we wanted to improve our projection and stage presence in time for the showcase and i wanted to make sure i was at my best to perform.
Tuesdays showcase began with a long rehearsal beforehand, I wanted to project my voice as best I could, that was important because I was confident in the dancing and my acting skills, I was also taking over half of the first solo in seasons of love which I had only fairly recently become accustomed to, when our group went up and we did school song I had my hair half up held off my face with bows in it so it added to my characterization, i took my jewellery off so it didn't reflect the lights or get caught on anything, I had a black skirt and tights with a white school shirt and red tie, I also had red lips and nails to match the tie, the beginning of our performance went well, all the big kids were stood strongly in the correct formation and everything was set to go well, the little kids made their way across and they sounded good when they sang the first few lines, real childlike and sounding nervous like they should, the piano was a little slow at this point I thought but immediately sped up as soon as all the big kids had turned around, it felt so strong and I thought we sounded so loud, and in tune even though we had to practically shout it, I thought we did really well and the first dance section was probably the strongest part as we were all so involved and I was confident in my acting throughout, when it got to the make or break point of the alphabet blocks we managed to keep it up, and then we still managed to project even whilst running around, it probably wasn’t as loud as before but we were still hopefully audible to the audience, we finished on a strong point and I think it went very well overall and I was pleased because I didn’t go wrong, if I could do it again I would have made the middle section slightly slower because watching it back I noticed how very fast it went and how the moves went by so quickly in comparison to the other group.
Our peer feedback was again projection in the block section and the speed because of the piano.
